Comment
Welcome to the July 2014 Newsletter.
Bucket List
The comment in the latest issue of the magazine puts forward a suggestion that we compile a bucket list of modern buildings that we really ought to visit, rather like our ancestors did in Victorian Times with their 'Grand Tours'. There are some fabulous buildings being constructed Worldwide using the latest architectural software and technologies, and whilst these look great on the small screen, that is no substitute for standing inside the building and soaking in the absolute scale of the structure, its fitness for purpose (what a horrible phrase to denote a building that embodies the purest and most noble ideals of its creator) and its setting.
Interested in finding out which buildings stir us the most? Then send me an email – cad.user@btc.co.uk – with your top three choices, explaining, quite briefly, why you think they should be on the list. I shall compile the final list of 10 buildings based on the frequency in which each building appears in my inbox. And it's a pleasant task for you whilst you lounge on the beach in some exotic location. There are no prizes, and no winners – not even a lucky draw to send someone on the 21st Century 'Grand Tour' – but I think it will be fun!
David Chadwick
