Welcome to the December edition of the CAD User Newsletter.

We are kicking off this first CAD User newsletter with several items on what we believe will be a dominant factor in the construction industry over the next couple of years - BIM. We have already published two supplements dedicated to Building Information Modeling alongside the magazine this year, and will doubtless increase our coverage in 2014.

The increasing importance of BIM is highlighted in Tekla's offer of a free Student Edition of Tekla Structures, encouraging students to get to grips with the subject as early as possible, not to mention the NBS National BIM library and BIMobject BIM component libraries.

Of equal importance to the industry, some would say, is sustainable infrastructure development, addressed in this month’s newsletter by IES and Micro Drainage, who are providing enhanced building performance and water management solutions.
