Welcome to a new year and our first Document Manager eNewsletter of 2018, as the Christmas decorations go back in the loft and we all start to conveniently forget those all-too-rash resolutions. But there are some resolutions that perhaps we should all try to keep to this year. I’m sure we’ve all decided to keep on top of our plans for GDPR, which is now just a few months from implementation – to be blunt, if you’re still planning for it, you’ve probably already left it too late!
What other topics are likely to be recurring throughout this year? Artificial Intelligence is a buzzword that won’t go away, and there can be no doubt that technologies that exploit AI will continue to influence how we plan and deploy our Information Management systems. The announcement in this eNewsletter from M-Files is a good example, as the company’s CEO Miika Mäkitalo says: “…It doesn’t really matter where information is stored; what's important is the actual information itself, as well as what it's related to and the context that makes it relevant.” Could 2018 be the year that sees the end of traditional approaches to information management?
