Comment
Welcome to the September edition of our eNewsletter, which includes a piece on how workers view the rise of RPA and AI in the workplace, and whether such technologies really represent a threat (as so often suggested in the wider media) or in fact an opportunity. According to research quoted in the article, 72 percent of workers see AI/automation as technology that will help them to do their jobs, not replace them. It is reassuring to see that, despite a pervasive narrative of job loss fears, workers themselves don't fear being replaced by these innovations.
Dr. Chris Brauer, Director of Innovation in the Institute of Management Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, and leader of the research commented: "Last year, we conducted research to explore whether automation could make work more 'human'. We found that augmented companies not only enjoyed 28 percent greater performance levels, but also scored 33 percent higher on factors deemed to make a workplace more 'human'.
Counter-intuitive as it might seem, automation has the potential to make our workplaces better for humans - which has to be a good thing, right?
