It’s been a busy time here at Network Computing as the 2022 Network Computing Awards will be taking place on Thursday 21st July, having been rescheduled due to the rail strike on their original date earlier in the month. We’re pleased that we’ll (finally) be able to proceed with announcing this year’s winners at the evening awards ceremony, which will take place at the original venue, the Leonardo City Hotel in London. We’ll have have a full round-up of our winners and runners-up in the next issues of Network Computing magazine and the enewsletter, and on the awards website from Friday 22nd.
July is also Ransomware Awareness Month, and to this end we have an article this issue from Florian Malecki at Arcserve, who gives us five steps businesses can take right now to reduce their exposure to ransomware and avoid losses. According to Florian “for most companies, it’s not a matter of if their data will be compromised; it’s a matter of when. With ransomware attacks increasing yearly, data backup and recovery should be at the very top of every organisation’s priority list.” With a recent survey of 1,100 IT decision-makers at SMEs finding that 50% had been targeted by a ransomware attack, it’s a timely reminder to make sure it’s not just the heatwave holding us all hostage this month.
