We’ve a bumper issue of the newsletter this month ahead of our big event in May, the 2023 Network Computing Awards. You still have time to crown your networking champions for this year by voting on the awards website, with voting closing on 9th May - that’s the day after the coronation bank holiday appropriately enough!
In this issue we have an article from Mark Pestridge, Senior Customer Experience Director at Telehouse, that examines how companies are coping with the impact of the ongoing energy crisis on their sustainability plans. According to Mark, “The recent Climate Crunch report from Telehouse discovered that almost four in five IT decision makers (79%) are worried about the impact of the energy crisis on the future of their sustainability strategies. To reduce financial strains and adopt more sustainable measures, many are looking to outsource their IT infrastructure in colocation data centres.”
According to recent industry research from Arelion, 82% of the IT decision makers for enterprise networks surveyed stated that increased energy costs in the network have had a medium or high impact on the way they price their own services. However, Mattias Fridström, Chief Evangelist at Arelion commented that “What’s clear is the transition towards more sustainable networks has hastened as a result of the energy crisis, and investments in power efficiency are shortening the upgrade cycle for network infrastructure.”
The demand for more efficient, sustainable networks is there - could colocation be an affordable solution for your business? As Mark Pestridge explains, “In challenging economic conditions, organisations need to look for alternative solutions that will help bring the costs down without having to compromise on scalability, continuity, and connectivity. Colocation offers an array of attractive benefits and can help businesses accelerate their sustainability initiatives, even when energy prices are climbing.” Read Mark’s article for more.
