Welcome to our September 2016 e-newsletter.
This issue of the Storage magazine e-Newsletter includes some research findings from NetApp which suggest that while enterprises require high performance storage to support critical applications, almost a quarter have no plans to adopt Flash technologies. Awareness of flash and its advantages is high, especially among larger businesses, but despite this, 28 percent of respondents from large EMEA businesses do not have Flash, and have no plans to adopt it. Is this counter-intuitive?
Elliot Howard, UK & Ireland Managing Director at NetApp, NetApp said: “These findings show the appetite enterprises have for high performance enterprise applications and that a heavy reliance is placed on them to serve customers and keep day-to-day operations running. Given the mission-critical nature of enterprise apps and high performance storage to enterprises, it is surprising, but exciting to see that there is still plenty of scope for further flash adoption.”
It will be interesting to see how these figures might change by this time next year, as applications such as CRM and BI continue to place heavy demands on IT.
