Welcome to the February eNewsletter from Document Manager, which includes - perhaps not surprisingly - more than one piece that touches on the ongoing impact of Covid-19 on how we do business. The case study from IMMJ (which won the coveted Project of the Year trophy at the DM Awards late last year) describes how one NHS Trust use document management technologies to support 'virtual clinics' - a service which allows Healthcare professionals to view any patient's digitised records, from anywhere.

We also look in depth at some recent research from Brother UK which suggests that over 80% of UK firms are investing in digital infrastructure to boost their productivity in the wake of the pandemic. The idea is to deliver productivity gains while also getting round barriers such as the need for meetings and inadequate legacy IT infrastructure.

Andy Johnson, head of product and solutions management at Brother UK, said: "Reliable hardware and devices… will be key in helping businesses become more productive, coupled with other easy updates, such as making sure all infrastructure is properly secured and opting for software solutions that support remote working and end-to-end workflows."

As we all wait for the gradual effects of the vaccination programmes to take hold, it is reassuring to see that businesses aren't expecting to go back to 'doing things the old way' in the future.
